I've had a conversation recently that went something along these lines. It was equally hilarious and annoying. Person: "Where are you from?" Me: "Toronto" Person: "You don't look Canadian. Say 'about'. " (Pronounced as "aboot") Me: "About" Person: "You don't sound Canadian either." Me: "Yeah, well, it isn't always like you see on TV. Plus I grew up in the Caribbean." Person: " Oh, you don't look Caribbean either." Me: "No one looks Caribbean. Mixed up place, the West Indies." Person; " I guess you could be Brazilian. That's close to Caribbean, right?" Me: " Kinda? Not really. I'm of Indian descent." Person: "So why are you in the Caribbean?" Me: " Colonialism. Everyone's everywhere." Person: "You've reached England from the colonies." Me:" I guess that could said."

The third Test between the West Indies and Australia begins on December 16 th at Perth. As far as the Frank Worrell Trophy is concerned, the series is no longer a competition. Australia will retain the trophy regardless of the outcome of the third (and final) Test match. This series , however, is not solely dependent on a Trophy to ensure competiveness. Australia has been having, by their standards, a very poor year. The Ashes loss is sure to still be in the minds of the players and they will be desperate to get a convincing win, if only to get the media off their backs. The win for Bangladesh in the 2 nd ODI in Dominica secured a series win over the West Indies in the 3 match series. This therefore makes the 3 rd ODI at St. Kitts in effect, a match in which the result is irrelevant. But then , how much of the entire series has been relevant? Officially, the series is recognized as an international series, all the statistics will be counted. But everyone who has seen even one match of the series will know that this series falls short of what is international standard. Bangladesh are entering establishing new milestones every time they play a match. Their first Test series win on tour, their first ODI win and first ODI series win against the hosts have all come on this tour. Duckworth-Lewis method – how statistics and cricket combine The Duckworth-Lewis method (D/L method) is a mathematical way to calculate the target score for the team batting second in any form of limited overs cricket match. It is usually used when the match has been interrupted by weather. It is generally accepted to be a fair and accurate method of setting a target score or at least it is the most fair and accurate method to have been developed thus far. However as it is a predictive statistical method and as such tries to create what would have happened had the game continued uninterrupted it obviously will create controversy for supporters.
