Best Documentary feature Most likely winner : Exit Through the Gift Shop by Bansky and Jamie D'cruz. A very strange film about street art and the evolution of Mr. Brainwash. Some issues as to whether it's a real documentary but thoroughly entertaining nonetheless. Backup Pick : Gasland by Josh Fox and Trish Adlesic. About natural gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing and the effect on communities. Seems like it'd be dull with those topics but isn't. The green movement should love it Most deserving (My pick): Exit through the Gift Shop is a great film. I don't even care about street art and I liked it. Nothing should stop it from winning except the aura that the film is about a well-engineered con. Best Foreign Language Film Most likely winner : In a Better World (Denmark) in Danish and Swedish by Susanne Bier. Won at the Golden Globes. Got that whole refugee, emotional drama thing going for it. Seems set. But this award is usually the least predictable. Backu...

Best Director Most likely winner : David Fincher for The Social Network . Not easy to direct a film where everybody has an idea of how the characters should be, which is inevitable for real, famous people as the subject. David Fincher gets the entire aura of impatience, assured-ness and brilliance, all tinged with irony, to show up . Backup Pick : Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan . Boldness. That's the word for the direction of the film. Because you can't make a film like this without wanting to create something spectacular that makes a statement. And Aronofsky does, indeed, put out a strong statement about competitiveness. Most deserving : David Fincher for The Social Network . Difficult to driect. I was completely convinced the movie would be junk before I saw it. It's nice to be proven wrong. And I just can't give this film enough praise. I'm only picking from what I've seen (because that's the only way). So I'm sure True Grit or The King's Speech might have made the list,since the reviews are great and they're on a lot of lists (and the original True Grit was excellent ) , but I've haven't seem them yet. 15. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - Edgar Wright Why: A great comic book adaptation. Anyone over 30 is probably going to hate it but the nonsensical, minimal attention span style of the film makes it an excellent watch. 14. Exit through The Gift Shop - Bansky - UK/USA Why: A documentary? Or a farce. It works well either way, though probably better as a farce. It's strange and it's entertaining.
